In the winter of 2019, I spent six weeks at Kunstnarhuset Messen in Ålvik in Norway. In search of silence, mountains and snow. My studio looked out over the Hardangerfjord, which was different every hour of the day. Beforehand, I had a certain idea about the landscape, but it turned out completely different. The mountains are much older than the Alps, so no high peaks, but elongated round shapes. The landscape is dark and heavy. The mountains, sometimes blue, sometimes deep black, rise steeply along the fjord. But when they are covered with snow, silence appears.
